I have been searching and searching for Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye for awhile now.  We have found small batch and single barrel but no rye.  Then it dawned on me, if it is this hard to find what are the chances that I am going to be disappointed when I do get my hands on it.  Even though there are only a few bourbons and whiskeys that have disappointed me in the past (that will remain nameless) I could be pleasantly surprised with this one too. The struggles, I tell you.

Well... this past weekend I was at lunch with my family.  Glancing at the Whiskey and Bourbon list, like I always do, I see the five little words that get my attention and I had to try it.  The nose had a tobacco smell with a sweet finish.  The taste was of caramel, charred oak, vanilla and a mild tobacco flavor that ends with a mild pepper finish on the tip of your tongue.  This is definitely a whiskey that I will be keep looking out for and get a number of them for my collection if I can.
