10th Mountain Rye Whiskey

Picture
Aged: 6 months.
86 proof 43% Alcohol

On the Nose:  Honeysuckle, hints of lemons and mild sugar sweetness

Taste: For this high rye the first thing I taste is anise with a strong wood flavor.  The rye is mild with a subtle pepper finish that coats the entire tongue to let you know it is there.  This is a perfect rye whiskey to introduce to someone that wants to try a rye for the first time.

Disclaimer:  10th Mountain makes one of my favorite rye whiskeys.  The rye whiskey that I prefer is aged longer than 6 months.  (this is all I had available to me in our neighborhood liquor store for this review, which quite possibly means I might have drank all the longer aged bottle that we purchased from the distillery).  Please check out all of their aged ryes and do a side by side comparison to find your favorite. Cheers!
